A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first title for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after March of 2023.

Victory also signifies he has secured twenty-one titles at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to compete at the top level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and perform assertively, supported by an improved service.

The champion fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors traded breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to force a third set.

The opponent saved four initial break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner earned the title with a shot at the net, with his opponent unable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
